Barfi! Review

A beautiful retro style fast paced arcade running game where you play as Ranbir Kapoor and try to outrun the chasing cops. How far can you run. "

I saw the movie today, and trust me most of it with a smile on my lips. Some parts of it are so hilarious that i only just didn't fall off the bed. Its a very different movie and very difficult to sum up in exact words.

Firstly, it has not tried to evoke any emotions of sympathy empathy or helplessness towards the special people in our society.

The message is very straight and clear, cherish life and dont give up without a fight.

Its about a deaf and dumb boy named Murphy ( Ranbir Kapoor )"Barfi".He’s quite the charmer, especially with the ladies. His energy is infectious and so is his confidence. The movie has been written and directed by Anurag Basu

His bitter-sweet relationship with two beautiful young woman, Shruti ( Ileana D'Cruz ) and Jhilmil ( Priyanka Chopra )  sets in motion a chain of events that will turn his life upside down.Ileana is also the narrator of the movie .

Barfi is akin to a whiff of fresh air. Its foremost triumph is that it leaves you with a powerful emotion: Happiness!" The setting of the movie is in Darjeeling, and surprisingly the modest backgrounds are hardly noticed in-front of the power packed performances of the actors. The scenes in and outside the train are very well shot.

Ileana is a very well known name down south and gives a very effective performance in the movie.

Ranbir, in the most challenging performance of his career leaves us, admiring the mans intelligence in planning his career so meticulously. And choosing once in a lifetime roles. His grandfather's genes shine through his performance throughout. His designing has been done with great thought, but what steals the show are his immaculate expressions. Done ever so easily.

For Priyanka, there's only one word - Perfect ! She plays an autistic girl, with a womans emotions trapped inside a girls body. In a role where she needs to under-emote, she does so brilliantly.Again, she lives the role to perfection and manages to grab your attention in every frame.

However, its an all out Ranbir Kapoor movie, for people who loved him in Rockstar, will respect him now. The speed by which he is polishing his credentials, the sky is the limit for him.

The music and background score of the film is composed by Pritam. The soundtrack album has 6 songs. All of them are worth mentioning, the background score is aptly done and picturisation exquisite.. Phir le aaya Dil and Main kya Karoon are memorable..

I am going to watch the movie again, just to smile, laugh and to feel happy...Go watch it and forget your worries, Barfi style..

I will give it 4 out of 5 stars...

Jism - 2 review

This is my first critical review of a movie and i have been longing to do this for a long time now. Never too late.

Sunny Leone was a household name, for atleast the men in India, even before she entered Big Boss. Hence, the movie had practically no or negligible marketing costs. The first released poster was no doubt a crowd puller, but to be fair, there was very little left for imagination anyway.

The movie for the most part of it has been shot in Sri Lanka, the locations are exquisite and breath taking. The two houses where a major part of it has been shot are extremely creative and lovely. The flora, fauna and the water background only adds to the mysterious undercurrent of the movie.

The cast is well chosen and sufficient. The screenplay is flawless and some of Sunny's dialogues are memorable.

Aayan Thakur (Arunoday Singh) plays the role of an intelligence officer. This movie will make people sit up and notice him even more. His performance in Yeh Saali Zindagi earned him a nomination for Best Actor in a Supporting Role at the 18th Screen Awards. His screen presence is very strong and endearing. His voice is very impressive. He has not got a very chocolate hero face, yet is very effective and delivers his part impressively.

Kabir (Randeep Hooda) plays a deadly assassin, who was previously an intelligence officer. He has really groomed himself into a well seasoned actor, who knows his strengths and short comings very well. I had seen his last movie In 2011,in which he impressed critics by giving a stellar performance in the film Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster

Izna ( Sunny Leone ) plays the part of a small time drug peddler, who falls in love with a good cop Kabir. Only to find him vanished from her life one day. Later, is hired by the intelligence agency to set up Kabir. Sunny carries herself very well, her body language comes across as sexy, yet dignified. Her dress designer has done an extremely good job, in making her fit the part perfectly. She emotes very well for a first movie and is drop dead gorgeous.

The movie is based on a ' Honey -trap ' plot, in which Izna ( Sunny Leone ) is used as bait to get close to Kabir and steal confidential data from him. The first half is very engrossing and the curiosity factor for Sunny, reaches an all time high. However, the second part is a little slow and predictable.

The end is a little flat and leaves you wanting for more. The highlight of the movie is the music and the songs. The music by Arko Pravo Mukherjee  and Mithoon is very melodious and fits in prefectly in the plot. The songs sung by Ali Azmat are set to top the charts for a long time.

On the whole a good one time watch. But,whether Ms. Leone is here to stay or not, her second movie will decide. Hope she chooses well.

I give the movie 2.5stars + 1 star for music = 3.5 stars
